According to a report by Football Insider, Wolves are open to the prospect of re-signing Matt Doherty at the end of the season.
Doherty has not hit the expected heights since joining Tottenham last summer, with the Republic of Ireland international being guilty of a number of poor performances this campaign.
The 29-year-old admitted recently that he has not played as well as he would have wanted this season but insisted that he feels he has turned a corner.
However, the former Wolves man put in another poor display in Tottenham’s 2-1 loss in the North London derby on Sunday, with question marks once again being raised about his defending.
Football Insider claim that Spurs might decide to move Doherty on after just one season in North London, with a return to Wolves on the cards for the experienced defender.
It is revealed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have not been pleased with Nelson Semedo’s attacking contribution this season and are looking to strengthen the position in the summer, with the club open to bringing Doherty back to the Molineux.
Spurs Web Opinion
Doherty has not shown anywhere near enough to suggest that he is good enough for Spurs. However, we might have no choice but to sell Aurier in the summer since he is set to run into the final year of his deal at the end of the season. If we sell Doherty too, that would leave us needing two new right-backs in the summer.
