Report: Transfer target has told club he wants to join Tottenham this summer

Football Insider have claimed Lautaro Martinez has made it clear to Inter Milan that he wishes to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Reports first emerged on Sunday that Tottenham had agreed a fee with Inter Milan for Martinez but the Serie A club have maintained the striker is not for sale.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold clarified the situation by revealing Spurs had agreed a €60m (£50.9m) fee with the Italian champions but the situation changed after Chelsea’s £100m move for Romelu Lokaku.

The journalist added that while Martinez is keen on a move to Tottenham, his future now lies in Inter’s hands as they are not as desperate to sell the 23-year-old after cashing in on Lukaku.

Football Insider have now backed Gold’s claim on Martinez wanting the move to go ahead.

They report the Argentina international has his ‘heart set’ on a move to the North London club this summer.

Martinez has allegedly told his inner circle he wants to join Spurs and is also thought to have made that clear in discussions with Inter.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am hoping Inter are only denying the rumours about Martinez leaving so that their fans are not angered after Lukaku’s departure. The club might change their stance after they bring in a striker or two.

With Martinez having just two years left to run on his deal, one would hope that Inter would be tempted to cash in on the 23-year-old before the window shuts.
