Report: Turkish club make Tottenham man their ‘first-choice target’

According to a report from Fotospor (as relayed by Sport Witness), Trabzonspor have made Danny Rose their number one left-back target ahead of the summer transfer window.

Rose was not handed a squad number by Tottenham this season and did not train with the first-team under Jose Mourinho.

The England international has not featured in the Premier League for almost a year since returning from his loan spell at Newcastle in the second half of last season.

The 30-year-old certainly seemed pleased with Mourinho’s departure, joking with the reporters outside Hotspur Way on the day of the Portuguese coach’s sacking.

Rose, whose contract with Spurs runs out in the summer, reportedly came close to a move to Trabzonspor towards the end of the January transfer window but the COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the Turkish government scuppered the transfer.

However, Fotospor now claim that the Turkish club are set to make another attempt to sign the Tottenham star when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

The report asserts that Trabzonspor have ‘no alternative’ to Rose in their search for a left-back.

Spurs Web Opinion

At 30 years of age, Rose should be in his prime at the moment. If he can focus on getting back fit and into the right frame of mind, there is no reason why he still cannot be a decent player for a mid-table Premier League side. So, I do not see why he would move to Turkey unless there is a financially lucrative offer on the table.
