Report: Turkish club trying to reach an agreement with Spurs for player

Fenerbahce are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal to sign Moussa Sissoko, according to Turkish publication Bagimsiz Gazete.

Shifting some of the Tottenham deadwood was likely a priority for the Fabio Paratici this summer, with Sissoko thought to be among those considered surplus to requirements.

The midfielder was an unused substitute in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Arsenal in their final pre-season friendly on Sunday.

Reports emerged over the weekend that Nuno Espirito Santo had told the former Newcastle man he was free to leave Tottenham and that the 31-year-old was in talks over a permanent move to an overseas club.

If Bagımsiz Gazete’s latest report is to be believed, the club in question could be Fenerbahce.

The report explains that Fenerbahce boss Vitor Pereira is keen to bolster his midfield options and has identified Sissoko as a target.

It is revealed that the Turkish giants are trying to hammer out an agreement for the midfielder with the North London club.

Selling Sissoko was always going to be challenging as not many clubs would have been prepared to match the salary we were paying the 31-year-old. If Fenerbahce do get the midfielder, the transfer fee is likely to be a rather modest one, as it was with Alderweireld.
