Report: Two on-loan Spurs players still not close to injury returns

Reports have indicated that neither Sergio Reguilon nor Harry Winks are training with their Atletico Madrid or Sampdoria teammates respectively, as the pair continue their rehabilitation from their injuries.

Reguilon missed Tottenham’s final five matches of last season due to a groin problem and the Spaniard reportedly had surgery to fix the issue back in August (Mundo Deportivo).

However, the 25-year-old is yet to make a single matchday squad for Atletico since making a loan switch to Diego Simeone’s side.

AS have now revealed that the on-loan Tottenham man was once again absent from Atletico’s team training session on Monday ahead of their Champions League clash against Club Brugge.

Meanwhile, Winks has also not made the matchday squad since his move to Sampdoria, with the midfielder recovering from an ankle problem.

SampNews24 reported last week that the 26-year-old had suffered a setback in his recovery, which meant that he was continuing to train individually rather than with the group.

Football.London have now revealed that the England international’s name was absent in Sampdoria’s latest updates regarding first-team training, which means the Spurs star continues to work on his own.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems increasingly likely that we are only going to see Reguilon and Winks become match-fit after the mid-season break for the World Cup.

The injuries that the two players were carrying, might have been the reason why many clubs chose against making moves for them in the summer transfer window, with both players having to wait until the final moments to complete loan moves.
