Report: Two PL clubs interested in deadline day deal for Spurs attacker

Aston Villa and Newcastle United have both been credited with interest in a late swoop for Tottenham winger Lucas Moura.

The Telegraph have claimed that Steven Gerrard wants to bolster his options in the wide areas and has identified Moura as a potential target.

The report asserts that the Villans are now considering making a move for the Brazilian before the transfer window shuts later today.

It is explained that Dan James’ potential arrival at Tottenham could free up Moura to make a late switch to Villa Park.

Villa may face competition for the Spurs star from Newcastle United, if Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed. The publication claims the Magpies have now enquired about signing Moura on a season-long loan.

Moura has made two appearances off the bench for Antonio Conte’s men this season – in the 4-1 win over Southampton and the 2-2 draw against Chelsea.

The 30-year-old has missed Tottenham’s last two matches against Nottingham Forest and West Ham through injury.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Tottenham would consider letting the 30-year-old leave unless they have an attacker lined up, which does not seem to be the case. Loaning Lucas out would not make sense for the North London club, given that the winger does not have long left on his contract.
