Manchester United and Chelsea have both entered the race for rumoured Spurs target Thomas Meunier, according to the latest reports from France.

Reports over recent weeks have suggested that Tottenham are in pole position to land Meunier, whose contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs out in the summer. (Sport via Sport Witness).

The Ligue 1 champions will apparently not offer the right-back a new deal this summer (Le Parisien) and Jose Mourinho is said to have personally called him to convince him to make a move to North London (ESPN).

However, it has now emerged that the Lilywhites may have a battle on their hands to land the 28-year-old.

A report in L’Equipe (as relayed by the Express) has revealed that Manchester United and Chelsea both wish to beat Spurs to the Belgian international’s signature.

It is claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the PSG star as a back up to Aaron Wan-Bissaka while Frank Lampard wants him to compete with Reece James.

The report goes on to assert that Meunier would stand a better chance of being first-choice with Tottenham than at Man Utd or Chelsea.

We know that free agents are going to be in demand this summer and so I wouldn’t be surprised if more clubs came in for Meunier. Given that he displaced Aurier from the PSG side, he could potentially fancy his chances of doing that again at Spurs rather than playing second fiddle at either Man Utd or Chelsea.
