Report: Two Premier League clubs in the race for Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga

According to the print edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (17/07/22), AC Milan are facing plenty of competition for Japhet Tanganga, including from two Premier League clubs.

Over the last couple of days, reports from Italy have indicated that AC Milan have intensified their efforts to sign Tanganga in order to beat out the competition for his signature.

CalcioMercato.it suggested recently that amidst Napoli’s interest in the Spurs defender, Milan were ‘ready to sink a blow’ for the 23-year-old over the coming days.

The report added that the Rossoneri want to try and bring down Tottenham’s asking price of €30m (£24.5m) for the defender and that they hope to strike a loan deal with an obligation to buy the player.

Italian journalist Daniele Longo subsequently revealed that Fabio Paratici has flown to Italy to discuss the sale of Tanganga to Milan, with a meeting with the Serie A club’s hierarchy set for Thursday.

However, if Gazzetta are to be believed, Stefano Pioli’s side still have plenty of competition to contend with for the Spurs academy graduate’s signature.

It is alleged that Valencia are keen on snapping up the 23-year-old while the versatile defender is also of interest to both Everton and Brentford this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would not be surprised if Tanganga prefers a move to Italy over joining Everton or Brentford. The 23-year-old might look at the success that the likes of Fikayo Tomori and Chris Smalling have had over recent years and think that a move to Serie A could be the launchpad that his career needs.
