Report: Two Premier League clubs set to battle for Christian Eriksen’s signature

According to Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Football Italia), Christian Eriksen could be set for a return to the Premier League in January, with the former Spurs man reportedly wanted by both Manchester United and Arsenal.

Previous reports claimed that Eriksen, who has endured a year to forget at the San Siro, has been offered to several Premier League clubs by Inter, including Tottenham (Football Insider).

It then emerged that the Dane could be Arsenal bound, with a swap deal with Granit Xhaka being mooted as Inter were reportedly keen on signing the Swiss international.

Corriere dello Sport now suggest that Manchester United could also be in the market for the 28-year-old when the transfer market reopens in January.

The report claims that Fred is on the radar of Antonio Conte’s side and the Nerrazuri could look to swap Eriksen for the Brazilian.

However, it is asserted that Man Utd are not particularly keen on letting Fred leave in January, with Paris Saint-Germain also being mentioned as another potential destination for Eriksen.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems clear based on reports from Italy that Inter are looking to get Eriksen off their wage bill. However, a move to Manchester United would not make any sense for the midfielder given that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already struggling to fit Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek and Paul Pogba into the same team. One would hope that Eriksen has the good sense to reject a move to Arsenal as not only would it destroy his Spurs legacy but Mikel Arteta’s side also seem to be on a downward spiral at the moment.
