Report: Two reasons why Spurs believe they can beat Bayern to Nagelsmann

The Evening Standard have revealed that there is a belief at Tottenham Hotspur that they can beat Bayern Munich to the signing of Julian Nagelsman this summer.

Previous reports have indicated that Nagelsmann is Spurs’ number one target but the North Londoners could potentially face competition from Bayern Munich, who see the RB Leipzig boss as the ideal man to replace Hansi Fleck.

Several other candidates including Brendan Rodgers, Gareth Southgate, Roberto Martinez, Graham Potter, Scott Parker, Rafael Benitez and Maurizio Sarri have also been linked with the Spurs hot seat over the past few days.

The Evening Standard have now reiterated that Nagelsmann is the man Tottenham really want and that Daniel Levy decided to pull the plug on Mourinho in order to steal a march on Bayern in the pursuit of the German coach.

The report reveals that Spurs believe they can convince Nageslmann to come to N17 as the 33-year-old is thought to be interested in managing in the Premier League.

It is said that Leipzig would also be more open to negotiating with Tottenham than their Bundesliga rivals.

The report goes on to rule out the chances of Spurs making a move for either Benitez or Sarri, revealing that the former Liverpool and Chelsea bosses are not on the club’s shortlist.

If Levy had not been given some encouragement in the pursuit of Nagelsmann, I do not believe he would have pulled the plug on Mourinho. So, there is reason to be optimistic that Spurs could beat Bayern to his signature.
