Report: Two Serie A clubs join Spurs and Chelsea in race for centre-back

TuttoMercatoWeb have revealed that Juventus and Inter Milan are also eyeing a move for Tottenham target Josko Gvardiol.

Over recent months, multiple publications had claimed that Tottenham were battling Chelsea for Gvardiol’s signature ahead of the January transfer window (Calciomercato.it).

This was reiterated by Tuttosport last week, with the publication stating that the two London clubs were in the ‘front row’ for the 20-year-old.

Alasdair Gold suggested on his YouTube channel earlier this month that the Croat was more likely to end up at Stamford Bridge than at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs’ pursuit of Gvardiol may have just got even more complicated if TMW’s latest update is to be believed, with Juventus and Inter alleged to have joined the two Premier League clubs in the race for the Croat.

However, the report explains that since the cost of the operation would be ‘very high’, Massimiliano Allegri’s men would only be able to sign the Leipzig star next summer.

TMW add that Inter are trying to figure out if ‘there is room for manoeuvre’ so that they can launch an offer for Gvardiol in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

Neither Juve nor Inter are likely to be able to match the transfer fees or the wages that the two London clubs can offer for Gvardiol. However, a left-sided centre-back is not a priority for Tottenham for the moment, which is why Chelsea might be able to steal a march on their rivals for the 20-year-old in January.
