Report: Two Serie A giants set to enter race for Spurs-linked midfielder

Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed that Juventus and AS Roma are set to enter the race for Lecce midfielder Morten Hjulmand, who is thought to be a summer target for Tottenham.

Hjulmand has arguably been Lecce’s most consistent performer since the club’s promotion to the top flight last summer and the Dane’s displays have seemingly turned quite a few heads.

CalcioMercato reported last week that Tottenham are keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old, with the report adding that the North London club had already sent their scouts to the Stadio Via del Mare this season to watch the player in action.

CM.it subsequently revealed a couple of days later that Inter Milan were also tracking Hjulmand, who was said to be valued at around €15m (£13.2m).

If Gazzetta’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham could face even more competition for the midfielder than initially anticipated, with Juventus and Roma also alleged to be on his trail.

The report states that the Old Lady are keen to bolster their midfield ranks and have identified Hjulmand as a target while the Giallorossi are trying to ‘get ahead’ of the competition for the player.

Strengthening in central midfield might not be a priority for Spurs next summer, particularly if Skipp and Sarr continue to show their potential over the next few months in the absence of Bissouma and Bentancur.

However, Paratici might just look at Hjulmand as a promising bet for the future, irrespective of whether it is a priority position for Tottenham to strengthen.
