Report: Two Spurs academy starlets called up to first-team training by Postecoglou

Tottenham academy players Matthew Craig and Brooklyn Lyons-Foster were both spotted training with the first team during the first few days of pre-season training under Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou will work with a smaller group of first-team players over the next couple of weeks before Spurs’ international stars return for pre-season training on June 12 following a three-week holiday.

The Australian is seeming using these two weeks to get a closer look at some of the club’s academy prospects, with Craig spotted in the training drills that the video that the club posted on their official Twitter account on Monday.

The 20-year-old defensive midfielder was a key part of the Under-21s set-up last season, making 26 appearances in Premier League 2, and he made his senior debut in the club’s 4-1 win at Elland Road in the final game of the campaign.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old centre-back Lyons-Foster was pictured training with the first-team stars at Hotspur Way in the images posted by the club on Sunday.

The likes of Craig, Devine and Parrott will have a renewed sense of optimism under Postecoglou, given the Australian’s willingness to back young players. 

These youngsters will know that they have a chance to force themselves into the first-team picture if they can impress the new coaching staff over the next couple of weeks.
