Report: Two Spurs academy youngsters have also picked up long-term injuries

In what comes as a further blow to Tottenham Hotspur, John Wenham, who breaks news about the club’s youth teams in the Lilywhites Rose social media platforms, has revealed that youngsters, George Abbott and Mikey Moore, are now also out with long-term injuries.

Players seem to be dropping like flies at Hotspur Way, with Spurs receiving news on Tuesday (Football.London) that Rodrigo Bentancur is now expected to be out of action until February with an ankle injury.

The midfielder joins Pape Matar Sarr, Richarlison, James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic on the treatment table while Cristian Romero has to serve one more game left to serve in his suspension.

Tottenham’s injury problems are not consigned to first-team stars, with Ange Postecoglou confirming last week that 18-year-old Ashley Phillips is also expected to be out for a while after picking up an injury while on England Under-19s duty (Spurs Play).

Tottenham academy is feeling the injury crisis too

It has now emerged that 18-year-old academy midfielder George Abbott, who made his first-team debut last season, is also facing six months on the sidelines after picking up an injury.

Meanwhile, hugely talented 16-year-old attacker, Mikey Moore, who has eight goals and five assists for the Under-18s this season, is also expected to be on the treatment table for a similar time after picking up a calf injury.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Tottenham’s unprecedented injury crisis may be simply a case of bad luck and coincidence, some might start to wonder if there is some other factor at play.

Perhaps some will ask questions about the intensity of training at Hotspur Way and whether that has been a factor in these injuries.
