Report: Two Spurs midfielders at risk of missing Liverpool clash – Not injury related

Football.London have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could potentially be without Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks for the clash against Liverpool, with both players now walking a disciplinary tight-rope.

Tottenham travel to Bramall Lane for what seems like a must-win clash as their poor run of form over recent weeks has seen Jose Mourinho’s side fall out of the top four.

After the match against the Blades, the North Londoners welcome Liverpool to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a huge six-pointer.

Winks and Hojbjerg are currently both on four bookings and Premier League rules state that accumulating five yellow cards within the first 19 league matches entails a one-game suspension.

This means that if either or both players pick up a yellow card against Sheffield United, they cannot play against Liverpool.

Both players also run the risk of missing the game against Brighton on 31 January should they pick up a yellow against the Reds.

Spurs Web Opinion

Both Hojbjerg and Winks commit a lot of tactical fouls to stop attacking transitions and so one would expect at least one of the two to pick up yellows over the next two matches. Hopefully, they come through the Sheffield United game unscathed as being suspended against Liverpool would be a much bigger blow than being unavailable for the clash against Brighton.
