Report: Two Spurs players withdraw from international duty due to injury

Football.London have confirmed that Richarlison and Ben Davies have pulled out of Brazil’s and Wales’ squads respectively for the upcoming international fixtures.

Richarlison limped off the pitch in tears inside just five minutes against Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday, with the forward being replaced by Dejan Kulusevski.

It has now been confirmed that the 25-year-old will play no part in the Selecao’s upcoming international friendly against Morocco on Saturday.

Davies started at left wing-back against the Saints and the defender appeared to receive treatment on his hamstring after going down just after the half-hour mark, with the former Swansea man eventually being replaced by Ivan Perisic on 37 minutes.

The Tottenham defender was initially named as Wales’ vice-captain by manager Rob Page for the nation’s upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Croatia and Latvia, with Aaron Ramsey taking the captain’s armband following the retirement of Gareth Bale.

However, the 29-year-old has now withdrawn from the squad due to a suspected hamstring injury, with Football.London confirming that he has been replaced in the squad by uncapped Stoke defender Morgan Fox.

Spurs Web Opinion

Let us hope neither injury is serious as we are going to need both players for the run-in to give ourselves the best chance of finishing in the top four.

Perisic was far from convincing against the Saints and with Sessegnon currently out of action, it would be a big blow if we lose Davies for an extended period of time with a crucial run of fixtures coming up.
