Report: Two Spurs stars ruled out of clash against Rennes

The Evening Standard have revealed that Son Heung-min and Eric Dier will both miss Tottenham’s Europa Conference League clash against Rennes tomorrow evening.

Spurs will travel to France today ahead of their Conference League opener against the Ligue 1 outfit in what will arguably be their toughest test of the group stage.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will be hoping to bounce back after the disappointing 3-0 loss against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Tottenham were without a number of senior players for their trip to Selhurst Park, including Son, who suffered a calf strain on international duty, Steven Bergwijn, who missed out with an ankle problem, as well as Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez who are currently training in Croatia after travelling to South America during the international break.

Eric Dier came off injured just past the ten-minute mark in the match following a collision with Palace’s Jordan Ayew.

The three South American players will miss the clash against Rennes but The Evening Standard suggest that they could be involved in the London derby against Chelsea on Sunday.

The report confirms that the game on Thursday has come too early for both Son and Dier, who are still on the mend with their respective injury issues.

Spurs Web Opinion

While we should be able to cope without these big names against Rennes, I fear that we will struggle against Chelsea without Son. We looked toothless in an attack against Palace without the South Korean’s ability to stretch defences. So, I am desperately hoping that he recovers in time for Sunday.
