Report: Two Tottenham players named in WhoScored team of the week

Tottenham Hotspur have two players named in the Premier League team of the week courtesy of WhoScored, with Harry Kane and Ivan Perisic making the cut.

It was a good weekend for Spurs, as the Lilywhites hosted Frank Lampard’s Everton side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and came away with all three points. A Harry Kane penalty and a Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg goal sealed a 2-0 win for the home side.

The result means this is officially Tottenham’s best-ever start to a Premier League season after ten games, with 23 points on the board already (BBC). The North London club sit third in the table, level on points with current champions Manchester City.

Harry Kane continued his own personal best start to a season with his ninth goal in ten matches this campaign (Transfermarkt). It was another sterling display from the 29-year-old, who won and converted the penalty, and proved instrumental in creating the second goal of the game.

Ivan Perisic too had a fine game, as he continues to impress since his free transfer from Inter Milan in the summer. The veteran caused Everton problems down the left-hand side all game with his progressive runs and deliveries into the box.

The 33-year-old failed to register an assist this time out, but has four assists in 14 games in all competitions for Spurs this season (Transfermarkt).

The Premier League team of the week as chosen by WhoScored is as follows:

Kepa Arrizabalaga; Kieran Trippier, Gabriel, Max Kilman, Ivan Perisic; Bukayo Saka, Mason Mount, Declan Rice, Phil Foden; Harry Kane, Ivan Toney.

Spurs Web Opinion

Harry Kane continues to play some of the best football of his career at the moment, proving that he not only is one hell of a goalscorer, but is also an incredibly accomplished playmaker too. His involvement in the build-up to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s goal was brilliant, and indicative of just how important he is to Spurs.

Perisic had another solid game too, and while he didn’t exactly set the world alight, he showed how valuable he is in providing cover in defensive areas and being a threat going forward.
