According to a report in The Telegraph, UEFA are currently considering a proposal to postpone Euro 2020, in order to allow the Premier League and other club competitions time to be completed over the summer.
The Euros were initially scheduled to take place this July but the tournament’s future has been put in doubt by the sporting chaos caused by the spread of the coronavirus.
With sporting events across Europe including the Premier League having been put on hold due to the spread of Covid-19, there is now some uncertainty over when action will resume.
The Telegraph claim that clubs are sceptical that the Premier League can resume in April. They are however said to be keen on completing the season over the summer.
UEFA could potentially move Euro 2020 to either December of this year or next summer to allow leagues to catch up in the wake of the delay.
The proposal to shift the Euros will reportedly be debated by the authorities on Tuesday in an emergency meeting before a decision is made.
Spurs Web Opinion
I believe UEFA will likely have no choice but to move the Euros because the situation globally is unlikely to be resolved in the next couple of months. However, It is also unlikely that we will complete the current season. The most likely scenario is that this takes several months to resolve and we start fresh from next season.
