Davinson Sanchez’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is still up in the air as we enter the final hours of the summer transfer window.

The Times claim that a potential move to French outfit Rennes has stalled over a difference in opinion in the valuation of the Colombian international.

Tottenham are holding out for a £12.8 million fee for the central defender, while the Ligue 1 outfit have tabled a £7.7 million bid.

Davinson Sanchez’s future still hangs in the balance

Sanchez was named in Ange Postecoglou’s starting eleven for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup second-round tie at Fulham.

The former Ajax man suffered another shaky performance at Craven Cottage with a number of unforced errors and his display was summed up when he stepped up to take Tottenham’s third penalty of the shoot-out and failed to find the back of the net, which proved to be the deciding factor in his side’s elimination from the competition.

Sanchez has earlier in the window been linked with a move to Spartak Moscow, who had a bid accepted by Spurs but the player was not prepared to move to Russia (Daily Mail).

It highlights our defensive frailties when Davinson Sanchez is our cover at centre-back and Eric Dier cannot even get a place in Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

Both players are in the final year of their contract and could instead decide to dig in their heels and remain in N17 before walking away for nothing next summer on a lucrative free transfer.

Sanchez has been nothing short of a disappointment given his hefty transfer fee from Ajax.
