Report: Update on Gift Orban transfer as agent gets involved amid Spurs talks

Het Nieuwsblad have claimed that football agent, Mogi Bayat, who is working on Gift Orban’s sale, is now trying to sort out the differences between Tottenham and Gent regarding the striker’s transfer fee.

Over the past couple of days, multiple outlets have claimed that Tottenham are imminently expected to make a concrete offer for the prolific Orban, who the North London club have allegedly identified as the man to fill Harry Kane’s shoes (CaughtOffside).

However, on Tuesday, Italian journalist Rudy Galletti told GiveMeSport that Spurs find Gent’s asking price for the 21-year-old to be excessive, which is why the Lilywhites are trying to negotiate down the fee.

Mogi Bayat now involved in Gift Orban sale

Het Nieuwsblad have now also backed up that claim, stating that Spurs and the other interested clubs have no intention of paying Gent’s €30m (£25.7m) asking price for the striker.

As a result, Bayat has now allegedly got involved, with the agent said to be working on a ‘solution’ to finalise the Nigerian’s sale.

There is no doubt that £25m is excessive for a player who has only had six good months in the Belgian top flight. However, Tottenham were always going to have to pay a premium for their Kane replacement as clubs are now aware that the Premier League side are sitting on quite a bit of cash.
