Report: Update on James Maddison amid Spurs interest – Including price range

The Telegraph have now revealed that Leicester City have decided to sell Tottenham target James Maddison this summer, irrespective of whether they remain in the Premier League.

The Foxes are currently stuck in a relegation scrap, sitting 18th in the table with five more matches left to preserve their top-flight status.

Several clubs might be keeping a close eye on their situation, potentially since the likes of Maddison could be there for the taking if they go down.

However, The Telegraph have now claimed that even if Leicester manage to avoid the drop, the club have decided to cash in on the 26-year-old.

It is explained that the Foxes need to balance their books after recording a £92.5m loss in their financial accounts earlier this year.

Since Maddison is their biggest asset and is set to run into the final year of his contract in June, Dean Smith’s men have decided to part ways with him.

The publication adds that Leicester want to make around £45m to £60m from the England international’s sale, amidst interest from Spurs, Manchester United and Newcastle United.

The Magpies and Red Devils look likely to be in the Champions League next season while Spurs look set to miss out.

That could have a major bearing on Maddison’s decision but the North London club could perhaps convince the 26-year-old if they appoint someone like Nagelsmann and present the midfielder with an ambitious project.
