Report: Update on Micky van de Ven’s injury situation at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven will undergo assessments this week to help understand the full extent of the apparent hamstring injury that forced him off the field in this weekend’s game against Aston Villa.

Micky van de Ven has proven to be one of the best signings of the season, not just for Tottenham but in the Premier League in general.

The young Dutchman has excelled in his debut season in England, showing the pace, power, and composure required to be one of the top centre-halves in the league. His partnership with Cristian Romero, too, has been particularly impressive.

However, van de Ven has missed a substantial chunk of the season, having been sidelined by a hamstring injury back in November of last year. He returned in January and has been back to his best ever since.

Spurs fans were left worried when the 22-year-old had to leave the pitch in the 49th minute of the recent win over Aston Villa. Speaking after the game, Ange Postecoglou suggested it didn’t appear to be anything too serious (Football.London).

Micky van de Ven will be tested this week

Now, a report from the Standard has shed some light on the situation, with van de Ven set to undergo tests and assessments this week to see how serious the injury could be.

While the rest of the Spurs squad are off today, van de Ven could return to Hotspur Way immediately “to be assessed” by the medical team there in order to ascertain the “full extent” of his potential injury.

Van de Ven “appeared to feel his hamstring” in the first half at Villa Park, and then had to leave the field early in the second half.

It remains to be seen whether he will join up with the Netherlands squad for the upcoming international break, too.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am praying this is not a serious issue, especially another hamstring strain for van de Ven. While Dragusin did well the other day when he came on, losing a player like Micky would be a disaster with the run of games we have coming up.
