Report: Valencia are now in ‘advanced negotiations’ to sign Tottenham player

Multiple Spanish publications are now reporting that Valencia have stepped up their efforts to re-sign Tottenham winger Bryan Gil.

Gil impressed during his loan spell at the Mestalla during the second half of the season and featured for Tottenham in their pre-season friendlies over the summer.

The 21-year-old was an unused substitute in Spurs’ 4-1 win against Southampton on Saturday in their Premier League season opener.

AS are now reporting that Valencia have identified Gil as the man to replace Goncalo Guedes, who could be on his way to Barcelona.

The report claims that Gennaro Gattuso’s men want to sign the Tottenham player on a season-long loan deal and have made contact with the player’s entourage and Spurs. It is suggested that for the moment, the transfer is moving ‘on the right track’.

Valencia’s interest in Gil is also backed up by Tribuna Deportiva journalist Hector Gomez, who asserts that the Spanish clubs are in ‘advanced negotiations’ to re-sign the winger.

Gil would not have had any shortage of suitors from Spain this summer. It is not surprising that the winger would want to return to the familiar surroundings of the Mestalla to give himself the best chance of playing regularly and being part of the Spain squad for the World Cup.
