Report: Valencia want Spurs man on loan if they can make room in their squad

Valencia have maintained an interest in re-signing Tottenham winger Bryan Gil on loan but can only accelerate their pursuit by offloading Goncalo Guedes, according to Plaza Deportiva (via SportWitness).

Manager Gennaro Gattuso has targeted Gil specifically to fit his system with Los Che, seeing him as an option to slot into the side in place of Guedes at left wing should he depart the club this summer.

However, Valencia’s chase for the 21-year-old is dependent on their ability to offload the Portugal international in order to clear space in their squad and fulfil strict Financial Fair Play conditions.

Gil could be one of a number of outgoings from Spurs in the coming weeks (Evening Standard) with Antonio Conte establishing a set group of players in his plans for the new season.

The Spain international, who moved to North London last year, struggled to work his way into the side in his first six months at the club before sealing a loan move back to La Liga with Valencia.

He enjoyed a positive spell back in his homeland and returned to his parent club for pre-season, where he featured in multiple friendlies. However, Spurs are said to be open to letting him leave on loan if they don’t receive any more convincing proposals.

Valencia have a bit of shuffling to do if they are to land Gil on loan for a second season running. It will be good for him to go out there again as he needs game time on a regular basis, but really it may be more beneficial for him to secure a move to an English club at this point so he can keep familiarising himself with the Premier League.
