Report: Vice-president denies there has been an offer for Spurs-linked midfielder

Flamengo vice president, Marcos Braz has told OneFootball that his side have not received an offer from Tottenham for star player Gerson.

Spurs have been linked with the Brazilian midfielder ahead of this summer’s transfer window, however, they are yet to make an official bid (O Globo).

“I already told you. At no time did we receive a proposal for Gerson. There was absolutely nothing,” Braz said to OneFootball.

“He is a champion athlete, exemplary, very expensive. We have had no proposal.”

According to The Sun, Chelsea are also keen on the former AS Roma midfielder this summer but the Londoners face competition from Borussia Dortmund.

Gerson played a huge part in the Brazilian side’s treble win in 2019 which included their first Copa Libertadores since the 1980s.

It is believed Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the midfielder who offers power in the centre of the park and as speculation surrounding Tanguy Ndombele’s future develops this rumour could pick up traction.

Flamengo signed Gerson from Roma last summer for a fee which made him the most expensive Brazilian to be bought by a team from Brazil (Transfermarkt).

If Spurs were hoping to keep their interest in the midfielder quiet, then the silence has certainly been broken. Gerson’s time at Roma didn’t really work out for the midfielder but he is still young and has plenty of potential still to live up to.
