Report: Villa, Man Utd and Newcastle showed interest in Spurs star last summer

The Daily Mail have revealed that Lucas Moura was of interest to several Premier League clubs in the summer and is expected to be on the radar of many teams again at the end of the season.

Over recent months, Plenty of reports from Brazil have discussed the possibility of Moura returning to his boyhood club Sao Paulo as a free agent.

The latest such update came from UOL, who claimed a couple of days ago that the Tottenham star is in talks with Sao Paulo, with the Brazilian club and the player both said to be keen for the transfer to go through next summer.

The Mail have now revealed that while a January exit is unlikely for Moura, the former Paris Saint-Germain star is expected to leave Spurs on a free transfer when his current deal runs out next summer.

The publication also discusses the possibility of the winger returning to Sao Paulo but adds that he is likely to be on the radar of several Premier League clubs.

The report claims that Aston Villa, Manchester United and Newcastle United showed interest in snapping up the 30-year-old from Tottenham back in the summer.

Football.London previously confirmed back in August that Tottenham have the option to extend Moura’s contract by another 12 months.

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Tottenham to extend Moura’s contract so that they can get a fee for him next summer. I have no doubt that the Brazilian will attract interest from several European clubs, which is why I doubt if a return to Sao Paulo is on the cards for the 30-year-old next summer.
