Report: Vincent Kompany’s side monitoring possible move for Spurs man this summer

Young Tottenham goalkeeper, Jonathan De Bie, may be set to leave North London at the end of the season with multiple clubs tracking his progress, according to a report from Belgium.

The 19-year-old Belgian, who has represented Spurs in the Youth League a number of times since moving to the club in 2016, will reportedly see his contract run out in the summer and clubs back in his home country are said to be keeping an eye on the situation.

A report by Het Nieuwsblad (as translated by Sport Witness) reveals that Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht and KV Mechelen could move for him when he becomes a free agent in the summer.

The same publication reported back in January that the young goalkeeper had a trial with KAA Gent.

It is now claimed that Die Bie would accept a backup role if he moves back to Belgium as the teenager feels that he still needs to improve before demanding a starting role.

A move to Anderlecht or KV Mechelen could thus potentially appeal to De Bie if they provide the youngster with a pathway to the first-team.

It is not just De Bie who is likely to be moved on this summer but Brandon Austin will also probably be let go as he doesn’t appear to have a future at the club. The jury is still out on Alfie Whiteman but I can see him staying for another season. Regardless, none of these goalkeepers are good enough to be promoted into the third-choice role and so the club will almost certainly bring in a goalkeeper this summer to replace Michel Vorm.
