While Tottenham Hotspur have wrapped up one transfer saga already this summer by bringing in Tanguy Ndombele yesterday (BBC), the Christian Eriksen rumours roll on.
Eriksen told the Danish media last month that he was ready to now make a step up and find a new challenge away from North London for the new season (Ekstra Bladet).
The Great Dane has just a year left on his current contract at Tottenham, meaning that the North London club may be forced to sell up now or risk losing him on a free in 2020.
The Daily Star report that Eriksen is valued at £70m this summer, and has now told Tottenham club chiefs that he wants to leave in the current transfer window.
However, he apparently added that he only wants to move to a club with ambitions of lifting trophies next season.
While the Daily Star say that Eriksen’s agent has flown out to conduct talks with Real Madrid, they also claim that Manchester United see him as the perfect replacement if Paul Pogba leaves the club.
Spurs Web Opinion:
In my opinion, it is Real Madrid or nothing. If Eriksen wants to win trophies next season, then Man United makes no sense as a move for him. I expected the likes of Barcelona, PSG, and Juventus to take an interest in the Great Dane this summer, but it appears that Madrid is still the most likely destination.
