Report: Want-away Tottenham star ‘to stay in North London’ and could sign new contract

Tottenham Hotspur have been wrapped up in a number of transfer sagas this summer, but perhaps one of the most damaging to the squad would be the sale of Christian Eriksen.

At the moment, Eriksen is Tottenham’s chief playmaker and has been for the last six years, with the club yet to bring in a potential long-term replacement such as Giovani Lo Celso (Star).

After Spurs heart-breakingly suffered defeat in the Champions League Final last month, Eriksen revealed his desire to leave the club in search of a new challenge (Ekstra Bladet).

However, in this same interview, he did add that a new contract would be possible if no big clubs made an effort to sign him.

Just a couple of weeks from the start of the new season and that is exactly the position we find ourselves in, with Eriksen on the pre-season tour and no official concrete bids in sight.

Sky Sports have now reported that Eriksen ‘looks set to stay in North London’ as Real Madrid have dropped their interest. The report also adds that the Great Dane ‘could still ultimately sign a new Spurs contract’.
