Report: Watford failed with a deadline day offer to sign Tottenham player

Football Insider claim that Watford made a deadline day offer to sign Tottenham defender Danny Rose but could not agree on a deal before the window slammed shut.

Rose was linked with a move to Serie A side Genoa (Sky Sports) when the European transfer window was open.

However, when such a move failed to materialise, there were rumours that the 30-year-old could be subject to a late offer from Middlesbrough before last Friday’s EFL transfer deadline.

However, those suggestions were quickly shut down as reports indicated that the Championship club could not pay his salary.

Football Insider now claim that Watford also tried to bring the left-back to the Championship last week as they got in touch with Spurs on deadline day over the possibility of completing a deal.

The report suggests that the England international was not particularly keen on moving to the Hornets.

Despite Spurs slashing their asking price for Rose late in the window, the North Londoners were reportedly not convinced by what Watford were offering.
