Report: West Ham are ready to challenge Spurs for prolific striker target

Football Insider have revealed that West Ham United are ready to challenge the likes of Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez this summer.

The speculation linking Gimenez with a move to Tottenham continues to intensify as we get closer to the summer window, with various outlets suggesting over recent weeks that the Mexican is near the top of Spurs’ wishlist (CaughtOffside).

Last week, journalist Rudy Galetti claimed that Spurs could face competition from their North London rivals, Arsenal, for the Feyenoord star, who is also thought to be admired by Mikel Arteta’s men.

West Ham set to enter race for Santiago Gimenez

Football Insider have now reported that West Ham could also challenge the two North London sides for Gimenez this simmer.

The report explains that the Hammers made a move for the 23-year-old in January but were unsuccessful at the time despite holding extensive talks.

David Moyes is said to be keen on signing a number nine this summer and the club are thought to retain an interest in Gimenez, who is also alleged to be on the radar of AC Milan.

However, the report adds that West Ham would not be able to compete with the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Milan for the Feyenoord star if they fail to secure European football.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be surprised if Gimenez ends up at an elite club this summer. I think he will probably be snapped up by one of the clubs below the top tier such as West Ham or Roma.
