Report: West Ham beat Spurs to the signing of highly-rated teenager

According to a report by All Nigeria Soccer, Tottenham Hotspur have lost out to West Ham United in the race for Southend United defender Justin Osagie.

The highly-rated 15-year-old was said to be the subject of interest from several Premier League clubs including Tottenham, but Southend are said to have rejected the North Londoners’ approach.

The report claims that the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Wolves and Brighton also wanted the youngster but it is West Ham who have won the race.

Osagie is described as a quick central defender, who is good on the ball and has an eye for a pass. The youngster is also said to be quite versatile, having covered in midfield too.

The Southend academy graduate is reportedly eligible to play for both England and Nigeria, with the English FA keeping tabs on his situation ahead of a call up to the Under-16s.

The defender, who has been pictured in a West Ham shirt, will now join the Hammers academy and hope to break into their first-team in the distant future.
