Report: West Ham enter race for defender Conte is said to be ‘in love with’

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, West Ham United have now shown interest in rumoured Tottenham Hotspur right-back target, Wilfried Singo.

Singo has had a breakthrough season in Turin, with the marauding right-back having scored three goals and provided four assists in the Serie A so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).

Tuttosport reported earlier this month that Conte is ‘in love with’ the 22-year-old and claimed that Fabio Paratici is already laying the groundwork to bring him to Spurs this summer.

The same publication claimed last week (Tuttosport print edition – 20/04/22) that the North Londoners are set to make an offer of £41.6m to sign Singo and his Torino teammate Gleison Bremer.

However, if Gazzetta‘s latest update is to be believed, Conte’s men could face a challenge from West Ham for the young right-back’s signature.

The report reveals that the Hammers recently sent scouts to Italy to run the rule over the Ivory Coast international ahead of a potential summer offer.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Spurs need a right wing-back and Singo fits the profile of players the club tend to go for, given his age and high ceiling.

However, I do wonder if the fact that we are already close to the maximum quota of foreign players allowed, would convince the club to go for the likes of Spence or Lamptey instead.
