Report: West Ham enter race for Italian international wanted by Spurs

According to Alfredo Pedulla, West Ham United have become the latest club to enter the race for rumoured Tottenham target Domenico Berardi.

Berardi, who has been a consistent performer for Sassuolo over the years, also showed glimpses of his quality in Italy’s successful European Championship campaign, setting up two goals in the tournament.

Previous reports from Italy credited Tottenham with interest in the 26-year-old, who netted 17 goals and registered 8 assists in the Serie A last season.

It was alleged by some sources last month that Sassuolo were ready to cash in on the winger this summer.

However, if Pedulla’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham could face a lot of competition for Berardi’s signature this summer.

The journalist claims that Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea have both expressed their interest in signing the Sassuolo star.

He also adds that Tottenham’s London rivals, West Ham have also enquired about the valuation of Berardi over recent weeks.

With Bryan Gil expected to complete his move to Spurs, it remains to be seen whether Paratici will go in for another winger this transfer window, particularly with Begwijn, Lucas and Son already at the club. However, Berardi has also shone as a number ten in the past and so a deal cannot be completely ruled out.
