Report: West Ham enter race for player who ‘dreams’ of Tottenham transfer

CalcioMercato have revealed that West Ham United have now entered the race for Tottenham target Ruslan Malinovskyi.

According to Transfermarkt, Malinovskyi’s current deal at Atalanta runs out next summer but TEAMtalk relayed reports from Italy a couple of weeks ago which indicated that the Serie A club have taken up the option to extend his contract by another 12 months.

CalcioMercato have now asserted that Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have actually extended the attacking midfielder’s contract until 2025.

The report states that Malinovskyi wants to try a new challenge and is keen to leave the club this month after his efforts to find a transfer fell through last summer.

The publication reveals that joining Spurs is still a ‘dream’ for the 29-year-old but it is explained that the North London club are only willing to loan the player, something Atalanta will not agree to do.

CalcioMercato state that Marseille also continue to remain in the background but the finances of the operation would prove difficult for the Ligue 1 club. Finally, the report adds that West Ham have ‘come forward’ to conduct ‘polls’ for Malinonskyi over ‘recent weeks’.

Spurs Web Opinion

This update from CalcioMercato regarding Malinovskyi’s contract situation is quite confusing as no other source has reported that the midfielder has renewed his contract until 2025. While Tottenham might be the attacking midfielder’s first choice, I doubt if the 29-year-old is Conte’s top target for January.
