Report: West Ham keen to hold onto Spurs-linked defender

West Ham United boss David Moyes is keen to hold onto central defender Issa Diop, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old has struggled for regular game time with the Hammers this season having only made three Premier League starts and has had to settle for a place on the bench for the vast majority of top flight fixtures (transfermarkt).

Jose Mourinho has previously praised Diop during his time as manager of Manchester United when he labelled the Frenchman as a monster after his performance (BT via the Evening Standard).

The Daily Mirror (5 January, page 57) claimed that Mourinho was keen to bring Diop to North London with West Ham said to value the defender at around £18 million.

Diop is just one of a host of defenders who has been linked with a move to Spurs in recent weeks.

He is a strong centre-back that has a good turn of pace too and at times has shown his potential with performances in the Premier League in recent seasons.
