Report: West Ham move ahead of Spurs for £20m-rated French striker

According to a report in The Sun, West Ham have moved ahead of Tottenham in the race to land Amiens forward Serhou Guirassy.

The Daily Mail claimed last week that Tottenham sent scouts to run the rule over Guirassy when Amiens took on Paris Saint-Germain two weeks ago.

The 23-year-old striker stole the show as he constantly troubled the PSG backline. He netted a brace, including a late equaliser, as the game ended in a 4-4 draw.

The report suggests that Tottenham scout Brian Carey, who was in the stands at the Stade de la Licorne on Saturday, was suitably convinced by Guirassy’s display.

However, The Sun now reveal that the Hammers are hoping to steal a march on their London rivals and Brighton by concluding a £20 million deal for the forward.

It is suggested that an agreement between the two clubs could be reached shortly as Amiens want to seal the transfer before their relegation from Ligue 1 is confirmed.

I feel signing a younger centre forward like Guirassy would be preferable to landing an experienced striker as they would be more willing to play second fiddle to Kane. However, the only problem with signing another young forward is that it might interfere with Parrott’s development. It could be the case that the Irishman is allowed to leave on loan next season.
