Report: West Ham ready to rival Spurs for midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur face competition from West Ham United in their rumoured pursuit of Sampdoria’s Mikkel Damsgaard, according to La Republicca.

The report claims that David Moyes’ side are keen to land the winger who is also comfortable at playing in the middle of the park.

Damsgaard has enjoyed an impressive campaign for Sampdoria, having scored two goals in 21 Serie A appearances while providing four assists (transfermarkt).

The 20-year-old’s performances are said to have also attracted the attention of Juventus, Southampton and Leeds United.

Damsgaard is said to be valued in the region of £18million by the Italian outfit having cost them just £5.5million in January 2019 when he joined from Danish club Nordsjaelland.

While Damsgaard is no doubt a talent, a winger is not something that should be high on our agenda. Our problems defensively have been well highlighted in recent weeks and this should be our priority, along with another creative midfielder.
