Report: West Ham United showed interest in signing Spurs defender this summer

90 min claim that West Ham United showed an interest in signing Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon this summer.

With just over a week left until the transfer window shuts, Tottenham are prioritising offloading Reguilon and Harry Winks (Football.London).

Over the last week, reports from Italy have suggested that Spurs could use the Spaniard as a makeweight in a deal to sign Ruslan Malinovskyi from Atalanta (Bergamo Corriere) while Lazio have also been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old (CalcioMercato).

The Daily Mail reported on Monday that Nottingham Forest had entered into talks with Tottenham regarding a loan deal for Reguilon.

90 min have now backed up Forests’ interest in the former Real Madrid man, explaining that the newly promoted club have held talks with Spurs regarding the left-back.

However, the publication adds that Steve Cooper’s side are not the only Premier League club to have shown interest in Reguilon, with West Ham also alleged to have explored a deal for the Spurs star amid the uncertainty over their pursuit of Chelsea’s Emerson.

Despite this, West Ham’s priority has always been Emerson for their left-back role, with Fabrizio Romano giving the deal his trademark ‘here we go’ this week.

Given the growing number of clubs interested in Reguilon, one would expect Spurs to offload him before the transfer window shuts. However, the speculation regarding Winks’ future seems to have gone completely quiet and there does not seem to be any indication that the midfielder is close to an exit.
