Report: What Chelsea think about Kante potentially joining Spurs or Arsenal

90 min have claimed that Chelsea do not want to see N’Golo Kante join Tottenham or Arsenal when his contract at Stamford Bridge runs out at the end of the season.

Foot Mercato were the first to report earlier this month that Spurs were eyeing a move for Kante, with the report stating that Chelsea are not likely to offer the Frenchman a new deal.

It was claimed that the 31-year-old prefers to remain in London and his representatives have offered him to both Spurs and Arsenal.

CalcioMercato offered an update on Kante’s future this week, explaining that contract talks with the midfielder were proving to be complicated.

The report added that apart from the two North London clubs, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus were also eyeing a move for the Frenchman.

90 min have now revealed that Chelsea are in ‘regular conversations’ with Kante’s representatives and that the club’s hierarchy is ‘divided’ over whether to offer him a new deal.

The former Leicester man is said to be demanding ‘sizeable wages’ and it is explained that letting him and Jorginho leave would free up space in the wage bill for the West London club to sign West Ham’s Declan Rice.

90 min also state that Chelsea do not want to see Kante end up at Spurs or Arsenal, and those concerns are being factored into their international discussions over the player’s future.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Kante does not sign a new contract, I wonder if the midfielder would be hesitant to join Spurs as the move would not go down well with the Chelsea faithful. However, the Frenchman does have a relationship with Antonio Conte, which could work in Tottenham’s favour.
