Report: What Ange Postecoglou stressed in first team meetings with Spurs squad

The Evening Standard have revealed that Ange Postecoglu has stressed his determination to play attractive, entertaining football in his first meeting with the Tottenham players.

The report states that Postecoglou has wasted no time in impressing his philosophy on the non-international Tottenham players who have been undergoing pre-season training since last Saturday.

The Australian is said to have held just one team meeting so far, in which he allegedly reminded the players that this is the start of a new era and stressed that the team would be adopting a free-flowing approach.

The Evening Standard describes the atmosphere at Hotspur Way as one of ‘excitement and cautious optimism’ in contrast to the negativity that had gripped the club towards the end of Antonio Conte’s tenure.

Spurs could see a Tanguy Ndombele revolution

The report also adds that Postecoglou has given all fringe players a clean slate, with there being ‘fresh optimism’ at the club that the likes of Tanguy Ndombele could have a lifeline.

After having the handbrake on and playing cautiously for the last few years under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, it is not surprising that the players are enjoying the chance to express themselves.

One of Postecoglou’s main objectives would be to get rid of the fear of failure, which seemed to grip individuals as well as the team during Conte’s tenure.
