Report: What some of Spurs board think about Levy relationship with Mourinho

According to a report from The Daily Express, some members of the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy believe that Daniel Levy is ‘enchanted’ by Jose Mourinho and is unlikely to sack the Portuguese coach.

Pressure has mounted on Jose Mourinho amidst Tottenham’s recent struggles in the Premier League, with the North Londoners now languishing in ninth place.

Reports indicate that Mourinho has to turn around the team’s form quickly to be assured of his future at the club, with names like Julien Nagelsmann, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Brendan Rodgers mooted as potential replacements for the Portuguese coach.

The Express now claims that certain members of the Spurs board are lobbying for Mourinho to be sacked behind the scenes.

However, they are said to believe that Levy is unlikely to pull the trigger as the Spurs chairman is personally invested in Mourinho’s success.

It is asserted that Levy will not sack Mourinho with the club still in contention for silverware this season.

Irrespective of what different board members think, it is Levy who always has the final call on managerial sackings and appointments at Spurs, as he made clear in the Amazon documentary. I certainly think the Tottenham chairman is right to give the Portuguese coach time to turn things around.

However, Levy is not someone who has a record of letting his personal relationships and emotions get in the way of his decisions. If we do not qualify for next season’s Champions League, I believe Levy will pull the trigger.
