It has been well documented that Gallagher is one of Tottenham’s top targets this summer and various reports over the past few weeks have suggested that Spurs are well placed to beat out the competition to the 24-year-old’s signature (Football Insider).

BBC Sport now reveal that the midfielder was part of Pochettino’s plans and the Argentine was ready to advocate for the player to stay.

However, it is suggested that Gallagher’s exit is not inevitable even after the 52-year-old’s departure, with the player remaining reluctant to leave the West London club.

Spurs may find it hard to sign Conor Gallagher

Even though the England international has only one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, it is explained that the Blues value him at around £50m.

Finally, the publication also adds that Gallagher is also cautious about rushing through a move before the European Championship this summer after being called up to Gareth Southgate’s squad.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Gallagher might not be in a hurry to leave Chelsea, the Blues would need to sell some players before the end of June, given their PSR issues. So one would expect Spurs to test the waters with an offer of around £30m-£35m for the 24-year-old over the next few weeks.
