Report: Why there could be crowd noise at the Tottenham stadium this season after all

According to The Daily Mail, all twenty Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, will be asked to approve using crowd noises from the FIFA 20 video game for broadcast, at their next meeting on Thursday.

Discussions are being had between the Premier League and broadcasters on ways to improve the quality of the product, amidst fears that it would be severely diminished by the lack of spectators in the stadia.

The usage of crowd noises from FIFA 20 is set to be the broadcasters’ prefered option but clubs will have the final say on the matter.

It has been made clear however that the use of fake crowd noises will be optional for viewers in the UK and available on the red button rather than on main channels.

Other strategies to improve the televisual spectacle are also expected to be discussed, including a fan mosaic in the stands at each game representing the clubs involved, 360° replays, and a new tactical cam operated by the Premier League’s analytics provider, Second Spectrum.

Spurs Web Opinion

While some fans would be dead set against using fake fan noises, I believe it is a decent idea to use sounds from FIFA 20. The video game has done a good job of capturing the unique atmospheres at various grounds including the specific chants. Viewers can have no complaints given that the feature is optional.
