Tottenham have been linked with Meupiyou

Meupiyou has only made one senior appearance for Nantes but the young defender is highly thought of back in France, having represented the country in Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 levels.

The versatile centre-back, who can also play as a number six, was first mooted as a target for Spurs at the start of June, with L’Equipe reporting at the time that the Lilywhites were keeping an eye on the youngster.

However, it now appears that another Premier League club is winning the race for the youngster.

HITC have now also backed up Spurs’ interest in Meupiyou while also revealing that the 18-year-old is on the radars of Everton and West Ham.

However, the outlet explains that it is Wolves who are currently leading the race for the teenager, with the Midlands club now confident of getting a deal for the centre-back through the door.

Gary O’Neil’s men allegedly had an offer of £3.4m rejected by Nantes for Meupiyou last week but they have now returned with a second bid of £4.3m in the hope of completing the deal.

Tottenham have some extremely talented young defenders in their ranks at the moment in the form of Ashley Phillips and Alfie Dorrington, which might have been why the club decided against splashing the cash on Meupiyou.

Wolves will probably be a great move for the youngster, with a clear path to the first-team.
