Report: Wolves identify potential Adama Traore replacement amid Spurs approach

According to The Daily Express, Wolves are on the lookout for replacements for Adama Traore after Tottenham stepped up their interest in the winger this week.

Reports emerged on Monday that Spurs had accelerated talks with Wolves regarding a deal for Traore.

The North London club were alleged to have held negotiations over a loan deal for Traore with a view to making it permanent for £40m.

However, sources revealed on Tuesday that the Black Country club had rejected Spurs’ loan offer with an option to buy Traore, with Wolves instead insisting on a guaranteed sale.

Sky Sports have even claimed that Bruno Lage’s side would reject any offer that falls short of the £45m they received from Liverpool for Diogo Jota last summer.

The Express have now revealed that despite having their opening loan offer rejected, Spurs are continuing to hold talks with Wolves for Traore.

The report claims that it is ‘just a matter of time’ before the Lilywhites modify the option to buy the winger to an obligation, which might be enough to convince Wolves to accept.

It is explained that the Foxes have identified Valencia’s Goncalo Guedes as a potential replacement for Traore should he complete a move to Spurs in the final week of the transfer window.

Spurs Web Opinion

It does appear like negotiations are progressing and that a deal for Traore will be agreed upon in the coming days. That would leave Nuno with quite a lot of options out wide. It will certainly be interesting to see what formation he chooses to employ, particularly with Kane now appearing likely to stay.
