Report: Wolves interested in signing midfielder linked with Spurs and Man United

The Athletic have revealed that Wolves are set to enter the race for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Palhinha was linked with a move to Spurs last summer, with the North London club allegedly seeing their offer for the midfielder rejected at the time (Daily Star).

Portuguese publication Record claimed last month that Antonio Conte’s men could reignite their interest in the 26-year-old this summer but added that Manchester United, Newcastle and Wolves were also showing interest in the midfielder.

According to journalist Jacque Talbot, the midfielder has an agreement in place with his agent Jorge Mendes to force a move away from Sporting at the end of the season.

However, The Athletic have now revealed that Palhinha is also wanted by Wolves ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is explained that Bruno Lage’s men want reinforcements in midfield as both Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho could leave this summer, with the West Midlands side identifying the Sporting star as a potential replacement.

Our midfield looks completely different following the addition of Bentancur and even Hojbjerg has looked a much better player when playing alongside the Uruguayan. With Skipp also set to return, we arguably do not need major additions in the central midfield area this summer.
