Report: Wolves set to snap up new winger amidst Spurs links to Traore

Wolves are reportedly set to snap up Estoril winger Chiquinho amidst reports linking Adama Traore with a move to Tottenham.

Traore has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over recent weeks, with Antonio Conte allegedly wanting to convert the winger into a right wing-back.

It was initially reported that Traore was in favour of a move to Spurs and that Bruno Lage had given the green light for the 25-year-old to be sold.

However, Duncan Castles said over the weekend that the Spaniard is not close to leaving Molineux Stadium.

This was also backed up by Sport, who suggested that the winger wishes to remain at Wolves until the end of the season and prefers to join Barcelona in the summer.

However, if reports are to be believed, it would appear that Wolves are moving for a potential Traore replacement.

The Daily Mail claim the West Midlands club are expected to complete a £4.2m deal for Chiquinho, who is travelling to England to join Wolves on Monday.

This has been backed up by The Athletic, who claim that the Portugal Under-21 international, who has four goals and six assists in all competitions this season, is set to become Wolves’ first January signing.

Ekrem Konur reported today that Tottenham have agreed on personal terms with Traore and negotiations with Wolves are going in a positive direction.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is anybody’s guess whether Wolves consider Chiquinho as a direct replacement for Traore. It is possible that the West Midlands club might want to secure the 21-year-old as they anticipate losing Traore in the summer. So, Spurs fans should not be taking this development as confirmation that Traore is joining this month.
