Report: World Cup winner among two players Spurs have made ‘inquiries’ about

Sky Sports have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have made inquiries for both Bayern Munich star Jerome Boateng and Southampton’s Jannick Vestergaard ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Tottenham’s current crop of central defenders have set the world alight this season and there remains a question mark over the futures of a couple of them heading into the summer.

Toby Alderweireld has been linked with a return to Ajax while reports have suggested that even Jose Mourinho’s sacking is unlikely to save Davinson Sanchez’s Spurs career, with the club having made up their minds to cash in on the Colombian.

Sky Sports claim that recruitment for the centre-back position is considered a priority for Tottenham to address this summer.

Vestergaard, who is about to enter into the final 12 months of his contract with the Saints, is said to be one of the candidates Spurs are looking at.

Meanwhile, it is said that the club are also assessing Boateng, who will be available on a free transfer, with the German international’s contract with Bayern running out this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I could see us going for someone like Boateng when Mourinho was in charge. However, with Jose now gone, I do not expect us to sign the German as he does not fit the profile of players we usually go for.

I think we are more likely to pursue someone like Joachim Andersen, whose value is likely to grow over the next few years. A lot could also depend on who we decide to appoint as manager.
